The Bible in 90 Days

I can't think of a better way to start off the new year than by reading thru the Bible. Go here to find out more about the 90-Day Challenge.
This will be one of my goals for the new year. As with my other goals though, if I don't complete it exactly on time, I am not going to be too hard on myself. I think as long as I read the Bible daily, that is very important in itself. I have to say however, to be able to read the entire Bible in 3 months and have a greater understanding of the whole picture of the Bible, could make 2010 the best year ever!
There is a special 90DayBible you can purchase, but I am going to do it with the Bible I already have.
Go here to print out a list of the reading schedule.
I'll be blogging daily what I have accomplished in this area.
Would you like to participate in this challenge? Please leave a comment below so that we can help encourage each other.

$1/1 L’Oreal Skincare Product

$1/1 L’Oreal Vive Pro Product
O.K. I seriously don't know why I even make lists for myself b/c I can never get anything on them accomplished. I spent hours yesterday sorting, stapling, cutting, and filing coupons. So the only other things I got done were the bed sheets and the grocery store. Not too bad I guess, but it doesn't look like I am going to get my list accomplished.
Today, I spent half the day in Norcross taking a class for work and then met some family and 2 of Briggs "bestest" friends at Jungle Jumpers. We decided we would do a play date for his birthday instead of a party b/c we already had birthday cake and balloons on his birthday which was Christmas Eve.
Tomorrow I am seeing 2 patients in the morning, going on a movie date with hubby in the afternoon, and spending the evening with some friends for New Years Eve, so don't think I will get much accomplished tomorrow. Oh well, I'm not going to be too hard on myself b/c hubby is off this week and it is nice to spend some family time together.
I'll try to get back on track and maybe get something accomplished on Friday and Saturday.

Yesterday's plan for the day

You may be wondering where I got to on my plan for Monday. Well....... I only got about 1/2 the office organized. I did however, get my menu plan done and my grocery list done. Not too bad. I guess I need to come to terms with the fact that now that I have 3 kids, including one that isn't quite yet 3 months old, I won't be getting everything done on my list everyday.

So today, I will need to finish the office, go to the grocery store and attempt to get the other things done on my list. We shall see how it all turns out. Now off to wash some sheets before the baby wakes.

Menu Plan Monday- a day late

This is my first time posting a Menu Plan Monday ( or Tuesday since I am a day late.)

Here is the plan for the week.

Breakfasts (in no particular order):
scrambled eggs with cheese, whole grain toast
pancakes
waffles
muffins
oatmeal
ham & egg wraps (a new recipe I am going to try)
poptarts (I don't like buying these b/c the kids only want to eat these when they are in the house, but I am giving in this week b/c they are on sale and we haven't had them in a while.)

Lunches (in no particular order)
leftovers
turkey sandwiches
PB&J's
baked potatoes
home-made mac-n-cheese w/ hotdogs

taco's

Dinners
Monday- Chicken & Rice Casserole (Thanks Allison for my new favorite meal!)
Wednesday-shrimp pomodoro pasta, salad
Thursday- New's Year Eve, eat at friend's house
Friday- Spaghetti, home-made bread, salad
Saturday- Leftovers
Sunday- Meatloaf Minis, mixed veges
For more menu planning ideas, check out orgjunkie.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jer 29:11

I have many plans for 2010. Of course, we can all make our own plans, but God ultimately makes our life plan for us. Let's look back at a moment at one of my plans for this past year: Get out of debt so we can have another baby. Well God decided we needed to go ahead and have another baby, so he gave us Gates Benjamin Greene on October 4th, 2009. Thank goodness God know what is best because I couldn't even imagine not having Gates in our lives now!

My verse for the year is : "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11

I am going to post a series of my "plans" for 2010. The main reason I am doing this on the blog, is so that I have some accountability. Knowing that others will be reading this is a big motivating factor to work toward accomplishing my plans.
My first plan is to GET ORGANIZED!!!!!
I am soooooo unorganized and can't get it together!!! It seems like while I am organizing one thing, something else gets unorganized and it is a vicious cycle. I have found that when I can stay organized, I save money: I know where all my coupons are; I don't waste food; I can find my recipes to plan my weekly menu; and in general, I feel a lot less stressed.

It doesn't help that we just acquired waaayyyy too many toys. When we arrived home Christmas night after visiting both grandparents, my husband and I were extremely overwhelmed. We will be making the local Goodwill happy by the end of the week when we drop off a ton of old toys.

What changes can I make to get organized, and stay organized?

First off is to make a plan. For those of you not familiar with FlyLady, check her out here. I have signed up for her e-mails numerous times, and gotten behind reading them. So for 2010, I am going to give her an honest chance. She sends out daily e-mails telling you what you need to work on and helps you make out a weekly schedule on what area of the house to work on. She also teaches you how to set up a Control Journal to keep you organized. I'll keep you updated as to how I am doing.

Because hubby has the whole week off .... Yeahhhh!!!... (we'll see if I am still feeling this enthusiastic about it at the end of the week : ) ), I am going to get a jump start this week. Here is my plan for the week:

Monday- organize the office, make my grocery list for the week, make my menu-plan for the week
Tuesday- wash all sheets, organize Syd's room and get rid of 5 items
Wednesday- clean and organized kids bathroom, organize Brigg's room and get rid of 5 items
Thursday- organize playroom, get rid of 5 items of Syd's and get rid of 5 items of Briggs
Friday- organize and put up Christmas items

Of course daily, I will be keeping the kitchen clean (a constant, ongoing thing!!!), and doing at least 1 load of laundry a day.

I will update you at the end of each day as to how well I did. I will also be posting periodically throughout the week, more of my plans for 2010.

Last weeks $71.62 shopping trip

I have no idea how I went over budget last week. I just now realized it typing up this post. I have been really brain dead lately. Ben was out of town the entire week last week in China for work, so I will blame it on taking care of 3 kids all week by myself.
Picture 1 is Ingles, where I spent $19.99.
Some items to mention are the Breyers ice cream for $1.88 each, the Mueller's pasta was $.12 each, the cheese was $1.17 each, and the Kotex Liners were FREE.
I also got a good deal on the organic milk at $3.98 and the all natural hormone free chicken was marked down by $2/lb and I had 3 $1 coupons to use.

Picture 2 is Publix where I spent $51.63. I used a lot of rainchecks this week to get the VIVA for $3.99, Egglands 18-count eggs for $1.90 each, and apple sauce for $.83 each. The BeneVia drinks were FREE, the tape was FREE, Nivea body wash was $1, Good Start formula was $.49(this is to donate), Muir Glen tomato paste FREE, I bought the chicken to give away b/c I had a $1 coupon from the baby club, and $1 coupon when you buy 1 Velveeta and 2 Rotel.
As I mentioned earlier, I am going to be giving away food from our supplies each week to others who need it. I will start putting a dollar amount on it, to see how far just a little bit can go. I did however give items I previously purchased so I can't put a dollar amount on this.

Something New!!!

Last week I started something new with my grocery shopping. I am going to buy only organic milk and only all-natural hormone free meat and eggs. I am also going to start buying more organic produce. In addition, I am going to give away a portion of our groceries to the less fortunate each week. It may be only $2.00 my cost or it may be $10.00, it will depend on the week. With that said, I am going to continue to try to stay at $60 or under, but if I find it too difficult, I may have to raise the budget. I am going to give this a few weeks and see how things go.

If you are interested in buying more organic foods, check out this site which tells you which foods you should buy organic and which foods you really don't need to buy organic.

You can also print out a little pocket sized chart here, to take grocery shopping with you.
